



Babson Park, Mass. - January 21, 2013 - Senior guard Alex Berthiaume was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a pair of league wins last week.The Springfield, Mass. native was tremendous on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 22 points per game while shooting 17-for-29 (58.6%) from the field.
He opened the week with a dominating performance in a 92-51 over Wheaton, pouring in 28 points in just 26 minutes of action. Berthiaume went connected on 10 of his 13 field goal attempts, including all six of his bids from downtown.
On Saturday, he led the Pride to its fifth-straight win as he tallied 16 points in a 66-65 come-from-behind win at Clark.
Springfield, which owns a 14-4 record, will clash with rival WPI on Wednesday at 5:30 in a matchup of the only two remaining teams in league play with unblemished conference records.

Charlie Brock in 2012-13 will enter his 15th season as the head coach at Springfield College and his 33rd season as a head coach overall. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive. He has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament and has an overall, 32-year record of 440-397. Read more.
