Women's Track and Field Takes 15th at ECAC Championships

Bethlehem, Pa. - May 20, 2011 - The Springfield College women's track and field team finished 15th at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Moravian College on Friday.

Out of 56 scoring teams in the two-day event, Springfield recorded 17 points as a team. Ithaca College won the ECAC Championship with 80.50 points, followed closely by MIT's 77.50 points. Tufts (54), Cortland (42), and Williams (36) rounded out the top five.

Kelly Curtis had three top-eight finishes to earn a trio of All-ECAC recognitions. Curtis finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.89, placed sixth in the javelin with a heave of 38.91 meters, while also taking seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.25 meters.

Springfield's 4x400 relay team of Joy Jennifer, Katie Schumann, Kelly Murphy, and Gabriella Gaudreault ran their second-fastest time of the season to once again meet NCAA Provisional Qualifying standards with time of 3:55.00 as they placed second in their race.
