Brunswick, Maine - January 19, 2013 - Both Laurie Jenkins and Gabriella Gaudreault won a pair of the events to help lead the Springfield College women's track and field team to a third-place finish at the Bowdoin Quad on Saturday.
Tufts totaled 171.5 points to edge host Bowdoin, who finished the day with 169.5 points. Springfield posted 134 points, while RPI rounded out the team scoring with 105 points.
Gaudreault captured first in the 400 after crossing the finish line in 1:00.27 and later won the 800 after posting a 2:25.09. Jenkins sprinted to a win in the 60 meters in a time of 8.07, and took first in the 200 in 26.49. Crystal Davis also had a strong showing in the 60 meters, taking fourth in 8.40.
Also producing first-place points on the day was Amanda Martin, who won the triple jump with a distance of 35-11.50. She later took third in the long jump after recording a 16-05.25.
The Pride's 4x200 relay powered past the competition en route to a winning time of 1:49.15, while in the 600, Samantha Pomroy was the runner up with a time of 1:43.34. Rhian Duggan also earned second-place points after reaching a height of 10-06.00 in the pole vault.
In the 5,000 meters, Erica Fisher ran a 19:56.48 to finish fourth and Erin Womboldt ran a 9.98 to take also fourth in the 60 meter hurdles. Nicole DeCristoforo was fourth in the 1,000 with a 3:11.79, while in the shot, Amber Judge placed fifth with a mark of 34-10.50.
Springfield will compete again next Saturday when it hosts Coast Guard, Trinity, Amherst, ECSU, Westfield State, WPI, Keene State, RPI, St. Lawrence, and Mount Holyoke.
