Men's Golf Places Seventh in the Skidmore Fall Invitational

Pat Marra Saratoga Springs, N.Y. -- September 13, 2010 -- The Springfield College golf team opened up its 2010 season competing at the Skidmore Fall Invitational by finishing in seventh place.

The Pride finished the competition with 647 strokes over a two-day period.

Senior Craig DiFranco (East Longmeadow, Mass.) led the way for Springfield by placing in a tie for 18th with 157 strokes. He shot an 80 on Sunday, and followed with a 77 on Monday.

Farmingdale State College claimed the victory with a score of 600, followed by Elms College (605) and Western New England College (612). Adam Larkin of Farmingdale placed first with a total of 145 strokes, just one over par.

Rounding out the Pride’s competitors during the invitational were junior Thomas Sangeloty (Unionville, Conn.) (164), who placed 31st; junior Patrick Marra (Mechanicville, N.Y.) (166) who placed 32nd; and sophomores Kyle DiFranco (East Longmeadow, Mass.) (168) and Ryne McEvoy (Accord, N.Y.) (168), who tied for 34th.

The Pride competes again this coming weekend at the Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury in Vermont.

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
