



Norman, Okla. -- April 21, 2012 -- Jimmy Pezzino and Ryan Ponce reached the NCAA Championships in their respective events, but did not advance to their respective final championship rounds last night at the Lloyd Noble Center at the University of Oklahoma. Thus, SC's successful men's gymnastics season is now completed. Pezzino finished in a tie for 36th in his specialty, the floor exercise, with a score of 14.200. Pezzino is a junior from Buffalo, N.Y.
Ponce finished 45th in his specialty, the still rings, with a score of 13.200. Ponce is a sophomore from Tolland, Conn.
The University of Illinois won the national team crown with a score of 358.85 points, defeating host Oklahoma which finished with a score of 357.45.
Jake Dalton of Oklahoma won the all-around with a tally of 91.000.


Entering his 31st season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
