Golf Opens Spring Season With Sixth-Place Finish At Hampton Inn Classic

North Dartmouth, Mass. - April 13, 2013 - The Springfield College golf team opened up the spring portion of its schedule with a great showing at the Hampton Inn Invitational on Saturday, finishing sixth out of the 20-team field.

After capturing the NECC Championship in the fall and earning a bid to this year's NCAA Championship field, Springfield played its first outing of the spring season at the Par 72, 6,703 yard Allendale Country Club.

Posting a team score of 319 (+29), the Pride was led by a tremendous outing by Ryne McEvoy, who tied for 11th after firing a 76. Teammates Tom Sangeloty and Tim Valero each shot 80 to tie for 24th, while Adam Ziewacz posted an 81 to tie for 33rd. Chris Vincent rounded out Springfield's square with an 83 on the afternoon.

Host UMass Dartmouth won the event with 305 strokes, followed by Nichols (312), Amherst (315), Tufts (315) and Husson (316).

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
