Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. - September 24, 2011 - The Springfield College women's tennis team lost to visiting Wheaton College, 9-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday afternoon on Appleton Courts.
The Lyons improve to 5-0, 3-0 in league play, while the Pride drop to 0-4, 0-3.
Springfield hung tough in the doubles play as Erin Woodbury and Siana Green lost a close 9-7 decision at No. 2, while Vanessa Senecal and Sydney Striemer were edged 9-8 at No. 3.
Senecel also battled at No. 4 singles as she lost 6-3, 6-3.
The Pride will continue conference play on Tuesday afternoon as it plays host to Clark at 4:00 pm.
Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
