DiNatale Named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Vicky DiNatale Boston Mass. - October 21, 2013 - Vicky DiNatale (Weymouth, Mass.) was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

DiNatale anchored a Springfield defense that posted two shutouts in NEWMAC play this week. The senior started both games in the backfield and tallied seven shots in those match ups. The Pride posted shutout wins over Clark and Emerson. DiNatale's strong defensive play helped in holding Emerson without a shot on goal.

Springfield has a record of 9-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the NEWMAC. The Pride is currently tied for first in the conference with MIT.

DiNatale has started all 14 games in the Pride backfield this season and she's recorded one goal. Springfield's defense has held opponents to 11 goals through 14 games this season and the Pride has posted seven shutouts in that span.

The Pride will host Mount Holyoke on Tuesday night at 7:00.
