



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. -- September 15, 2012 -- The MIT women's tennis team opened the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference portion of its season with a 9-0 victory over Springfield College this afternoon at the newly-renovated Julius Appleton Courts on the SC campus. The Engineers captured each match in straight sets.
MIT's three doubles teams took each of their matches by scores of 8-2 -- opening up a 3-0 lead.
In singles play, MIT's Lauren Quisenberry defeated SC senior Sam Carney, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Vynnie Kong defeated junior Jen Cleary, 6-2, retired, at No. 2. And Candace Wu defeated senior Siana Green, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3.
Springfield is now 1-1 overall, 0-1 in the conference.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
