



Complete ResultsColorado Springs, Colo. -- March 31, 2012 -- Jim Pezzino and Ryan Ponce of the Springfield College men's gymnastics team this evening earned national titles at the USAG's at the Air Force Academy. In total, four members of the Pride earned All-America honors a total of eight times during the two-day event.
Pezzino, a junior from Buffalo, N.Y., won his second straight national title in the floor exercise, doing so this year with a score of 14.900. Pezzino also finished second in the vault with a score of 14.500.
Ponce, a sophomore from Tolland, Conn., also won a title in the still rings, doing so with a score of 15.250.
Ty Evans, a senior from San Jose, Calif., who last year claimed USAG national titles in the high bar and in the All-Around, became a USAG All-American four times this year. On Friday evening, he finished sixth in the varsity division All-Around competition. Then on Saturday evening, he placed fourth in the parallel bars at 13.900, fourth in the vault at 14.400, and sixth in the high bar at 13.400.
Finally, Alex McCabe, a junior from St. Paul, Minn., took third in the floor exercise at 14.050.
Junior Rob Ruggiero (Northford, Conn.) also competed this evening, but finished eighth in the pommel horse with a score of 11.950, just missing All-America honors by two spots.


Entering his 32nd season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
