



Aguadilla, Puerto Rico -- March 19, 2009 -- Sophomore Amy Shaw (Walpole, Mass.) had a good day as a double winner, but her teammates could not provide enough help as her Springfield College women's tennis team fell to Connecticut College, 6-3, this morning in Puerto Rico. Shaw was a winner at her No. 1 singles slot, defeating Becca Heupfel, 6-3, 1-6 6-4. Earlier, she had teamed with sophomore Kyla Walgren (West Hartford, Conn.) at No. 1 singles, winning 8-6.
The ony other winner for the Pride was junior Beth Slotnick (Nanuet, N.Y.) at No. 6 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Tomorrow, the team will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico on the other side of the island. On Saturday, the women will play the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at 9 am.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
