Gaudreault Breaks School Record in 1000 Meter Run

Medford, Mass. - February 15, 2014 - Last week, Springfield College's Gabriella Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.) ran the fastest 800-meter time in school history and on Saturday, she followed that up by breaking her second school record in just eight days at the Cupids Challenge at Tufts University.

The senior ran a winning time of 2:55.37 in the 1000 meter run, shattering the old record of 2:58.80, held by Marisa Clapp since 2002.

Amanda Martin (Bristol, Conn.) did well in the jumps for the Pride, earning a pair top-four finishes. The junior placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 36-01.50 and fourth in the long jump with a mark of 16-11.25.

Sam Pomroy (Lebanon, Maine) finished fourth overall in the 600 with a time of 1:40.89 and the Pride's 4x200 relay team also finished fourth with a combined time of 1:50.52.

Also running well for Springfield was Kimeisha Winkle (Springfield, Mass.), who placed 11th overall in the 400 with a time of 1:04.32 and Elizabeth Saia (Wallingford, Conn.) who finished 13th in the 200m with a time of 27.50.

Next week, Springfield will host the New England Division III Championships.
