Trinity Shuts Down Men's Soccer, 3-0

Hartford, Conn. - October 17, 2010 - Despite holding a 20-10 advantage in shots, the Springfield College men's soccer team could not find the back of the net as it was shutout in a 3-0 loss to Trinity College in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

The Pride, which has lost three consecutive games, now stand at 9-6-1 on the year. The victory boosts the Bantams record to 6-5-1.

Trinity scored their first goal of the match just 16:28 into the contest as Anthony El-Hachem scored off an assist by teammate Jamie Paterson. The Bantams added to their lead in the 34th minute as Dan Mayernick found the back of the net for the hosts. Andrew Mcnair was credited with the assists.

Michael Stankiewicz connected with Wesley Simon for the game's final goal at the 57:18 mark.

Grant Schonberg played 84 minutes between the pipes for Trinity and made 10 saves. James Ciano played the final six minutes in goal as he combined with Schonberg for the shutout. Springfield goalie Chris Walton recorded four saves in goal in the loss.

Springfield will look to get back to its winning ways on Wednesday afternoon when it travels to take on Brandeis. Kick off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
