



Springfield, Mass. -- January 28, 2009 -- Fueled by pins by Ryan McGilvray and Chris Brown, the Springfield College wrestling team, ranked #4 in the latest New England Wrestling Association Coaches poll, defeated Norwich University tonight, 37-3, at Springfield's Dana Gymnasium.Springfield took a 3-0 lead following a 4-2 victory by sophomore Casey Leslie (Middletown, Conn.) in the 125 pound category. Norwich freshman Josh Bolduc (Fayetteville, N.C.) tied matters at 3-all after he won his match at 133 by a 4-3 tally. But the Pride then won the evening's final eight bouts to wrap up the victory.
Included in those final eight victories were two pins by McGilvray and Brown. McGilvray, a 141-pouind freshman from Manalapan, N.J., pinned his opponent 1:02 into his match. Brown, a senior heavyweight from East Hartford, Conn., won his match in just 15 seconds.
Other winners for Springfield included sophomore Steve Flathers (Stratford, Conn.) at 149, senior Rob Mifsud (Somers, N.Y.) at 157, freshman Ronald Thompson (Westhill, Conn.) at 165, junior Brandon Sundwall (Guilford, Conn.) at 174, senior Greg Dussol (Amston, Conn.) at 184, and junior Bill Schady (Cohoes, N.Y.) at 197.

Jason Holder will enter his second season as head wrestling coach in 2012. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
