Men's Tennis Tops Western New England, 5-3

Springfield, Mass. - October 4, 2013 - The Springfield College men's tennis team topped city-rival Western New England, led by senior Joe Giannelli (Watertown, Conn.).

Giannelli won No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2 over Western New England's Andres Otero. Giannelli also won doubles with partner Nate Weissman (Longmeadow, Mass.) 8-4.

Freshmen Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) and Kyle Beynor (Prospect, Conn.) earned two points apiece for Springfield. They partnered at No. 1 doubles for a 9-7 win over the sophomore tandem of Alexander Sause and Otero. Danielewicz also beat Sause at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 7-5, and Beynor was taken to a pair of tiebreakers but edged LeFrancois at No. 3 singles in two, 7-6 (4) 7-6 (4).
