Men's Tennis Earns 7-2 Win Over Puerto Rico Bayamon

San Juan, Puerto Rico - March 19, 2013 - Both Alex Orban and Joe Giannelli picked up wins in singles and doubles competition to help the Springfield College men's tennis team knock off Puerto Rico Bayamon on Tuesday.

The win, boosts Springfield's record to 3-2 on the year.

Orban and Giannelli combined for a 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. In singles action, Orban grinded out a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 win at No. 4, while Giannelli prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Kyle Mersereau won the first set 6-3 before earning the win after his opponent retired in the second.

Springfield also benefited from forfeit wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

The Pride will play on Wednesday against Puerto Rico Rio Piedras.
