Kyle DiFranco had two hits in the loss, while Mike McGowan notched the Pride's lone RBI in the first on a groundout to third. Eric Chase was charged the loss as he went 5.1 innings, giving up six earned runs on 11 hits. Dan Green tossed the final 2.2 innings, scattering three hits and allowing one run.
For William Paterson, senior Tim O'Shea tossed eight innings of one-run ball en route to the victory. Rich Guillod was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, while Mike Arnold was 2-for-3 and scored twice. AJ Flores, Ryan Gibbons, and Trevor Haughney each contributed a pair of hits.
Springfield's run in the first came after a one-out single by DiFranco and a walk by Frank Calabrese. The duo moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, allowing McGowan' to plate DiFranco on a groundout.
Springfield will play again on Tuesday when it battles in-state foe UMass Boston.
