



Williamstown, Mass. -- Sept. 25, 2011 -- Kyle Mersereau of the Springfield College men's tennis team reached the second round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional men's tennis tournament at Williams College over the past weekend.In the first round of the singles tournament, Mersereau of Brunswick, Me. defeated Jeff Wensberger of Connecticut College, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 in a super tiebreaker.
Mersereau, a freshman, then went on to fall to Ned Mandel of Trinity, 6-3, 6-3.
Springfield's other top singles player, junior Ben Burnap (Westerly, R.I.), lost in his first round match-up with Dylan Page of Williams, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, the SC team of Zach O'Leary (Westboro, Mass.) and Doug Nickerson (Falmouth, Me.) lost in their first-round match against Matt Bettles and Timmy Berg of Bates College, 8-0.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
