Dayton Represents Men's Track and Field at NCAA Division III Championships
La Crosse, Wisc. - May 24, 2013 - Competing for the first time on the national stage, junior John Dayton placed 19th in the hammer throw on Friday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Bolton, Conn. product reached a distance of 178-00 (54.25m) in his first toss of the day as he finished 19th out of 20 competitors in the event.
Dayton had qualified for the national meet earlier this season with a mark of 56.52 meters.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
