



Springfield, Mass. - March 30, 2010 - After her outstanding performance at the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships at DePauw University, senior
Nikki Hay was honored as the USTFCCCA Outstanding Women's Field Performer at the meet.Hay was chosen out of nearly 100 women's field athletes at the national championships.
In her final indoor championships, the Norwalk, Conn. native was terrific as she won the national championship in the triple jump and placed third in the country in the long jump.
In the long jump, Hay made the most of her last jump in the finals as she registered a mark of 5.66 (18-7) to finish third in the country.
The following day, Hay recorded the farthest jump in the countryduring the indoor season with a distance of 11.98 meters, or 39-3 3/4, to win the national championship in the triple jump. Hay outdistanced the top-seeded jumper in the event, Nakeisha Jones of Tufts University, who finished second with a distance of 11.75 meters, or 38-6 3/4. Fittingly, Hay now owns the school record in the indoor triple jump after her national championship distance that she registered that day.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
