Lynch and Bugbee Highlight Pilgrim Yearly Awards Springfield, Mass. - May 6, 2013 - The Springfield College men’s lacrosse team garnered two of the three major Pilgrim Lacrosse League yearly honors on Monday afternoon in a vote by the league’s coaches. Ryon Lynch was named the Pilgrim Player of the Year, while head coach Keith Bugbee earned Coach of the Year honors.

Lynch was joined by teammates Ryan Murphy, Bryce Serriello, and Matt Giannelli on the first team, while Kevin Freeman and Colby Verge took home second-team honors.

Due to their efforts this season, Springfield has advanced to the NCAA Championship and will face Cabrini in a first round game on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.

Lynch has posted one of the finest offensive seasons in Springfield College history, and leads the league with 77 points, thanks to 36 goals and 41 assists. In his 30th season with the Pride, Bugbee led Springfield to its sixth-straight Pilgrim League title and it wrapped up the season winning its 49th-straight game against a conference opponent.

Murphy has been part of a dynamic Springfield attack unit and ranks second on the team this season with 54 points off 33 goals and 21 helpers.

In his first season at Springfield after transferring from American International, Serriello has been a weapon all season on the Pride's first midfield line, totaling 27 goals, including a team-best five man-up markers.

The Pride's most experienced returning defender, Giannelli anchored a youthful Springfield defensive unit that is allowing just over nine goals per game. He has picked up 24 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers this year.

Verge had a standout senior campaign as Springfield's short stick defensive midfielder. His gritty, physical play was instrumental all season, and he enters NCAA play with 21 ground balls and a pair of goals.

Freeman had a breakout junior campaign for the Pride in the midfield, pouring in 22 goals and ranking fourth on the team with 30 points. He was a dominant force in the Pilgrim League Championship, netting five goals, to lead Springfield to victory.
