



Singles Top Draw ResultsBabson Park, Mass. - September 18, 2010 - Three members of the Springfield College women's tennis team competed in the Wilson/ITA Division III Women's Regional Championships over the weekend. Amy Shaw and Sam Carney competed in singles competition, while Shaw teammed up with Kyla Walgren in the doubles play.
Both Carney and Shaw bowed out in the opening round of the singles play as they both drew opponents from Wheaton College. Catherine Teague topped Shaw by the scores of 6-0, 6-1, while Carney fell to Sarah Geocaris, 6-1, 6-0.
Shaw and Walgren had better luck in the doubles draw as they topped Lauren Chuha and Emily Mongello of Curry College, 8-3. However, the duo fell to the top-seeded team from Middlebury College, Leah Kepping and Brittney Faber, 8-2, in the second round.
The Pride return to action on Thursday afternoon when it hosts local-rival Western New England at 4:00 pm.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
