



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. - January 21, 2012 - Bolstered by a pair of victories from Kevin Coyle in the jumping events, the Springfield College men's track and field team finished second among nine teams competing in the Springfield College Field House on Saturday afternoon.
MIT won the nine-team meet with 176 points, followed by the Pride who posted 100 points on the afternoon. UMass Dartmouth finished in a close third with 93 points, while Tufts (67) and Ramapo (42) rounded out the top five. Westfield State (30), Wheaton (18), Coast Guard (16), and Keene State (13) also competed.
Coyle dominated the jumping events, winning the long jump with a mark of 23-08.00 before taking the triple jump with a distance of 48-00.75.
Ryan O'Connell won the mile race with a time of 4:18.73. The Pride also had the top-two finishers in the 5,000 meters, with Brian Fuller running a winning time of 15:44.55, followed by teammate Anthony Salvucci (16:02.72).
In the 200 Garrett Sharnick ran a second-place time of 23.07 and Matt Scully placed fourth in the 800 in 2:02.19.
Springfield's 4x200 relay finished in third as David Seronick, Steven Gallagher, Adam Swartout, and Ryan Gowe combined for a 1:37.50.
William Ferguson had a leap of 6-04.00 to take second in the high jump, while Dylan Brock placed third in the long jump with a 21-04.00.
In the shot put, Orlando Harvey had a heave of 47-11.25 to register second-place points and teammate John Dayton tallied a distance of 50-00.75 to finish fourth in the weight throw.

He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
