Boston, Mass. - November 3, 2013 - The Springfield College women's cross country team finished seventh in the 2013 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Park.
MIT claimed its seventh-straight team title as they had six of the 10 finishers on the day. The Engineers finished with 23 points, well ahead Wellesley College, which finished second for the fifth straight season with 70 points. Coast Guard Academy was third, followed by Wheaton College in fourth, and Smith College in fifth, just three points behind the Lyons.
WPI came in sixth, Springfield College was seventh, while Mount Holyoke College and Babson College finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Clark University came in 10th, and Emerson College, competing in its first NEWMAC Championship, was 11th.
The Pride were once again led by Gabriella Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.), who finished 25th with a time of 19:41.38.
Elizabeth Footit (Wilbraham, Mass.) ran Springfield's next fastest time after crossing 55th in 20:23.17, while Abby Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) was right behind her in 57th with a time of 20:28.11.
In 61st, Samantha Pomroy (Lebanon, Maine) totaled a time of 20:42.82, and J'Aime Giaccone (Enfield, Conn.) was the Pride's fifth runner on the afternoon after totaling a 20:56.98.
Springfield will compete next weekend in the ECAC Division III Championships.
