A Trip of a Lifetime: Inside the World University Games
Springfield, Mass. – August 27, 2013 – For two weeks in July, 17 members of the Springfield College community represented Team USA as the men's volleyball program competed at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
Fresh of its second-straight NCAA Division III National Championship, the Pride changed their Maroon and White uniforms for the Red, White, and Blue as they competed against Australia, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Chile, and Macau on the international stage.
"I couldn't have asked for a more incredible experience," said head coach Charlie Sullivan. "Not only did this trip give us the rare opportunity to grow as a team and as volleyball players, but as people as well."
With eight national championships to his credit, Charlie Sullivan will enter his 16th season as head coach of the men's volleyball team in 2014. In 15 previous years at the helm, Sullivan owns an overall record of 256-158 for a .618 winning percentage. Read more.
