Phoenix, Ariz. - March 12, 2012 - The Springfield College baseball team let a a six-run lead slip away as it fell to Mayville State, 8-7, on Monday afternoon at the Russ Matt Greater Phoenix Invitational.Alex Williams pitched five strong innings for the Pride, giving up just two hits while striking out six.
From the plate, Karl Quist went 3-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBI , while Kyle DiFranco had two hits, including a double, to go along with two runs scored.
Springfield finished the game with 14 hits, including three each from Mike Corletta and Shane O'Leary.
Former Springfield College standout Mark Simeone will enter his 17th season as the head baseball coach at his alma mater in 2013 . The reigning NEWMAC Coach of the year is coming off a successful 2012 campaign in which the Pride went 20-15. Read more.
