



Complete ResultsNorthampton, Mass. - September 13, 2008: The Springfield College women's cross country team placed four runners in the top ten as it went on to capture the Smith Invitational on Smith's 5k course Saturday morning.
Junior Amanda DiPaolo (Garrison, N.Y.) was the women's individual winner in 19:55.52 and was followed by Caitlin Crosby (Yarmouthport, Mass.) in fifth place, who finished in a time of 20:40.75.
Lacey Cartier (York, Maine) was the third member of the squad to cross the finish line, as she finished in sixth place with a time of 20:42.33. Alex Mustardo (Honeoye Falls, N.Y) finished in rounded out the Pride's four runners in the top 10 as she placed ninth in a time of 20:54.88. Springfield's Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) also had a solid showing in 11th place in 20:59.80.
The Pride of Springfield scored 32 points followed by Smith (59), Westfield State (75), Wellesley (119), Coast Guard (163), Mount Holyoke (179), Lesley (198), Clark (251), Castleton State (288), Norwich (307), Lasell (320), Western New England (336), Saint Joseph (CT) (346), Elms (413), New England (458), Mitchell (475) and Southern Vermont (499).
The Pride return to action next Saturday when it runs at UMass Dartmouth.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
