



Springfield, Mass. -- December 4, 2012 -- Max Nacewicz and Duke Ekblom of the Springfield College football team have been named to the 2012 d3football.com All-East Team. Nacewicz has been named First Team, Duke Ekblom Third Team.Nacewicz is a sophomore defensive end from Newtown, Conn. Ekblom is a senior offensive lineman from Ganesvoort, N.Y.
The Pride finished with an 8-3 overall record in 2012, winning five straight to end the season, including a 31-8 victory over Alfred in the ECAC Division III Northeast Bowl Championship game at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field.
Each of these players was named 2012 All-New England. Each was also named First Team All-Liberty League.
An applied exercise science major, Nacewicz had a very fine year, starting all 11 games played. He was SC's sixth-leading tackler with 49 overall, including 33 solos. That also included 20.5 tackles-for-loss for 133 yards and 14.5 sacks for 114 yards. He also had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Currently, Nacewicz is ranked tied for sixth nationally in Division III in sacks with 1.32 per game. He is ranked 14th in tackles-for-loss with 1.86.
A physical education major, Ekblom started 10 of 11 games on the season. He was also named to the d3football.com Team of the Week fior his efforts versus WPI on Nov. 10, a game in which the offense rushed for over 500 yards.
With just two weeks remaining in the Division III year, Springfield College is currently ranked second nationally in rushing offense team with 340.91 yards per game. Behind Ekblom and the remainder of the SC offensive line, the Pride is also ranked second nationally in passing efficiency with a rating of 186.55.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
