



Springfield, Mass. –October 5, 2009 – Craig DiFranco fired a two round score of 149 to help lead the Springfield College men's golf team to a 7th place finish among 14th teams at the ECAC Division III Championships at the par-70 Tunxis Plantation Golf Club in Farmington, Conn. this past weekend.DiFranco’s 3-over par round of 73 on Saturday was tied for the third-lowest round of the day. On Sunday afternoon, DiFranco (East Longmeadow, Mass.) continued his impressive play by firing a 76 to help propel the Pride to the seventh-place finish.
As a team, Endicott College finished first with a score of 609. Following in order were: Massachusetts-Dartmouth – 615, Castleton State College – 619, Johnson & Wales University – 619, Nichols College – 627, Worcester State College – 635, Springfield College – 642, Brandeis University – 643, Westfield State College – 649, Wentworth Institute of Technology – 655, Becker College – 655, Elms College – 680, Suffolk University – 688, and Mitchell College – 710.
From the Pride’s standpoint, remaining golfers included sophomore Alex Brown (Portland, Maine), who shot 83+80=163, tying for 36th. The next highest finisher for the Pride was sophomore Jared Slingerland (Berwick, Maine) who fired an 85+82=167, tying for 44th. Senior J.R. Balogun (Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore Thomas Sangeloty (Unionville, Conn.) tied for 51st by shooting 80+91=171.
Up next, Springfield College will play in the New England Collegiate Conference Championships in New London, Conn. on October 10-11. The Pride are the defending champions.
