



Orlando, Fla. - March 17, 2010 - The Springfield College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Berry College from Georgia in the Pride's second match of its Spring Break trip on Wednesday.The Lady Vikings improve to 5-0 with the win and have not lost a match at singles or doubles this season. Springfield is now 1-10 overall, including the fall season, and 0-2 on this southern swing to Orlando.
Berry led 3-0 following the doubles portion of the match. Kendal Ruffner and Stephanie Herz won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, as did Barbara Tomai and Marina Lebrao at the No. 2 spot. Kirstin Ruffner and Jennifer Tinnell won at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.
Both Herz and Kendal Ruffner won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively. Lebrao also won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Springfield will play twice on Thursday -- against Augustana at 9 am, then again versus Connecticut College at 6:30 pm, to conclude the trip to Florida .

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
