Chessen and Vanasse Named To NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team

Chessen and Vanasse Earn All-NEWMAC Honors Babson Park, Mass. - November 6, 2012 - Both David Chessen and Drew Vanasse were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team on Tuesday after guiding Springfield to its second-straight trip to the conference championship game.

Chessen finished an outstanding career at Springfield with another all-conference nod, marking the fourth time in four seasons he was named one of the conference's bests. The Edison, N.J. native posted a pair of assists in his senior year while appearing in all 20 of Springfield's games. A three-year captain for Springfield, Chessen's dynamic and steady play in the midfield this season was a major factor in the Pride appearing in its second-straight NEWMAC Championship contest.

Vanasse anchored Springfield's defense this season, playing in all 20 of the Pride's games. A constant threat in the air, Vanasse's physical play in the back was key throughout the year for Springfield. His leadership on the field helped the Pride during its postseason push, as it went 6-2-1 in its final nine games, to secure the third-seed in the conference tournament and finish as the runner-up.
