Siebert has been selected to coach in the 2013 Division III New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game in December. Pride senior John Mankus (Vernon, Conn.) was selected to play in the game.
It’s only fitting that Siebert will coach Mankus in his final game, as Siebert has coached the senior through his entire four-year career. Siebert began as an assistant coach with the Pride in 2009 and just wrapped up his second season at the helm for Springfield.
The all-star game will be hosted by Harvard University on Sunday, December 1 at noon. Eastern Connecticut State University’s Greg DeVito was selected to coach opposite Siebert.
This season, the Pride won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship for the first time since 1989 to close out a season for the record books. Springfield tallied 11 shutouts this year and netted 50 goals, both Division III program records. Springfield's 15 wins is the most in Division III program history, tying the 1999 squad and is also the second-most wins all-time. The Pride held opponents to just 17 goals all season, another Division III program mark.
In his four-year career, Mankus played in 74 games, starting in 62. The defender tallied five goals, four assists and 14 points. In his career, Mankus helped lead the Pride to two New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship appearances and a NEWMAC title in 2011.
