Women's Gymnastics Finishes Fourth of Four at West Chester

Christina Pagella West Chester, Pa. -- January 15, 2011 -- The Springfield College women's gymnastics team competed today in a four-way meet at West Chester University, placing fourth overall. The Pride finished with 175.625 points, which was quite an improvement from its first meet last Sunday against Yale.

Springfield is now 0-4 in duals, having faced some very stiff competition to date.

Southern Connecticut placed first in the team competition with 182.275 points. In second was the host school, West Chester, with 181.450. In third was Ursinus with 176.625, followed by SC with 175.625.

Springfield finished with scores of 45.925 in the vault, 44.450 in the balance beam, 43.925 in floor exercise, and 41.275 in the uneven parallel bars, which for the second straight meet proved to be a nemisis.

Among individuals for SC, Christina Pagella tied for first in the vault with a 9.450. Danielle Trota finished fourth in the balance beam with a 9.325.

In the floor exercise, Annemarie Graziosa took fourth with a 9.125, while Lizzie Sartell claimed fifth in 9.100.

In the all-around, sophomore Brittany Baglow finished sixth with a score of 34.875.
