



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. -- April 19, 2012 -- The Springfield College golf team placed sixth of 11 teams at the Western New England Invitational, shooting 325, on a hot day at Veterans Golf Course. Chris Vincent led the Pride with an 80. This tournament ends SC's spring golf season.
The par-72 Veterans Golf Course is 6,433 yards in length.
Endicott won the team event with a score of 314. Salem State came in second with a score of 316. Those two were followed by Nichols at 319, Western New England White and UMass Dartmouth at 320, Springfield at 325, Elms (329), Westfield State (332), Babson and WNE Blue at 335, and Wesleyan (364).
Among individuals, Nick Zolotas of Salem State turned out to be the medalist. He fired a 73, then won on a first-hole playoff. Brett Malboeuf had also shot a 73.
In third was Henry Fall of Elms with a 74. Tied for fourth were Pete Taylor of Wesleyan and Kevin Wheeler of Nichols with 76's.
Vincent, a junior from Norwich, Conn., finished in a tie for 14th to lead Springfield College with his 80. Up next for SC were Tom Sangeloty, a senior from Unionville, Conn., and David Hashagen, a sophomore from Morris Plains, N.J., both with 81's, tying for 19th.
Pat Marra, a senior from Mechanicville, N.Y., was in a tie for 31st with his 83. And Mike Nowakowski , a sophomore from East Hampton, Conn., finished in a tie for 48th with a 91.
This tournament was the third that SC participated in in a period of six days.
Joe Eadie enters his 19th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional. Read more.
