Sommer Chosen as NEWMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Drew Sommer Boston, Mass. – October 7, 2013 – Drew Sommer (West Chester, Pa.) was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

The junior continued to be a catalyst for the Springfield College offense as the Pride went 3-0 on the week to improve to 9-2 on the season. In three outings, Sommer produced two goals, including a game-winner, to go along with four assists for a total of eight points.

Sommer assisted on the game's first goal in a 2-1 win over regionally-ranked Western New England before erupting for three assists and a goal in the 5-0 victory against Clark. Sommer then netted the game-winner for the Pride in a 3-0 shutout of Elms.

Sommer is tied for a team-high seven goals this season. He also leads the team with seven assists.

Springfield will travel to Framingham State on Wednesday for a non-conference game at 3:30 p.m.
