Springfield, Mass. -- April 11, 2009 -- The Springfield College women's track & field team were led by several double winners and captured the annual Tri-Meet over Coast Guard and WPI this afternoon at rainy Blake Track. The Pride scored 213.50 points to WPI's 86 and Coast Guard's 81.50. Double winners for SC included junior Nikki Hay, freshman Cherelle Allen, and junior Amanda DiPaolo.
Hay, the reigning ECAC Division III Women's Field Athlete of the Week, took the week off in field events this week. But that did not prevent her from winning twice. This time, she won the 100 meter dash in 12.38 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 25.93 seconds.
Also winning twice in a couple of events where Hay generally proves to be victorious was Cherelle Allen, late of the women's basketball team. Allen won the long jump (17-feet even), and the triple jump (34-11 3/4). She also finished fourth in the 100 (13.56).
Finally, DiPaolo was triumphant in two distance events. She won the 800 meters in 2:28.77. She also captured the 1500 meters in 4:54.28.

Freshman Fatima Rose took first in the shot put (39-00 1/4), second in the hammer (130-08), and 11th in the discus (70-05). Senior Kayla Robertson placed first in the high jump (4-9 3/4), and second in the triple jump (34-10 1/2). Jani Springer was another who did well in multiple events.
