Martin Competes at NCAA Championships in Triple Jump

Delaware, Ohio - May 24, 2014 - Junior Amanda Martin (Bristol, Conn.) finished 20th in the triple jump competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan's Shelby Stadium.

Martin competed in the second flight of the championship finals and reached her top distance in her third and final jump as she posted a 11.17m (36-07.75). The Physical Therapy major qualified with a distance of 11.65m and was seeded 22nd in the event.

This marked the third time that Martin had competed in the NCAA Championships. As a sophomore in 2013, Martin went to both the indoor and outdoor championships. Martin took 10th in the indoor triple jump and placed 13th at the triple jump in the outdoor championships.

She was previously named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Year this season after winning both the long and triple jump at the NEWMAC Championships earlier this April.
