



Williamstown, Mass. – November 13, 2010 – The Springfield College men’s cross country team fared well at the NCAA Division III New England Qualifier on Saturday morning, as the Pride finished 11th out of 49 participating teams.MIT won the team event with 93 points overall and six top-50 finishers. Just behind MIT was host Williams College (101 points) in second place. Brandeis (139), Middlebury (145), and Bates (150) rounded out the top-5 in the team event.
The Pride saw four top-80 finishers on the 8K course, led by Anthony Salvucci. Salvucci recorded a time of 26:22.8 en route to a 25th place finish. Others that ran well for Springfield were Ryan O’Connell in 26:35.5, Zach Pietras in 27:11.6, and David Birdsall in 27:28.8. As a team the Pride recorded 320 points.
Bryan Brown will enter his third season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2013. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, is the reigning NEWMAC Coach of the Year after leading Springfield to its second-straight second-place finish at the conference championships a year ago .
