Men's Cross Country Races at Connecticut College
Waterford, Conn. - October 19, 2013
- The Springfield College men's cross country team raced at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park and took 19th.
The Pride totaled 551 points en route to finishing 19th among the 21 teams in the competition.
Erich Voelker (Albany, N.Y.) once again led the way for the Pride as he ran the 8k course in 27:37 to take 89th. Joe Geurds (Albany, N.Y.) was Springfield's next finisher in 27:50 for 107th place, and Corey Hamel (Methuen, Mass.) ran a time 28:10.
Jacob Simons (Naugatuck, Conn.) posted a time of 28:15, and Scott Bushey (Hebron, Conn.) was the Pride's fifth-fastest runner after clocking in at 28:48.
Next up for Springfield is the NEWMAC Championships which will take place on November 3.
Head Coach Bryan Brown
Bryan Brown will enter his third season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2013. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, is the reigning NEWMAC Coach of the Year after leading Springfield to its second-straight second-place finish at the conference championships a year ago .
