Seven Men's Gymnasts Earn USAG Scholar-Athlete Honor

Pat Ryther Springfield, Mass. – March 25, 2014 Seven members of the Springfield College men’s gymnastics team were honored by USA Gymnastics as they were selected as Scholar-Athletes following their success in the classroom throughout the their careers.

Of the seven, seniors Patrick Hanley (Abington, Mass.),Ryan Ponce (Tolland, Conn.) and James Hennin (Auckland, New Zealand) were all named, as well as juniors Andrew Grabowski (Victor, N.Y.), Brian Cogan (Fairfax, Va.), Derek Taranto (Westborough, Mass.) and Patrick Ryther (Boston, Mass.)

Qualifications for the USAG Scholar-Athlete honor includes being a junior or senior in good academic standing, holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

The Pride will compete once again on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at the ECAC Championships held at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
