



Springfield, Mass. -- March 12, 2012 -- A total of seven women gymnasts from Springfield College have advanced to compete at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Division III Championships as individuals March 23-24 at SUNY-Brockport. The NCGA's mark the culmination of the women's gymnastics season. Lauren Pocius, a freshman from Wallingford, Conn. and who was just named the ECAC Division III Rookie of the Year, will be competing in the all-around for the Pride. As a team, SC finished fifth at the ECAC Championships held this past weekend at Ithaca College.
There were six others from Springfield College who advanced to compete at the nationals in a total of 10 events.
Carly Flynn, a senior from Franklin, Mass., will compete in the vault and the floor exercise. A year ago, she competed in the vault.
The only other to compete last season was junior Annemarie Graziosa of Eastchester, N.Y. in the vault. This year, she will be competing in the balance beam.
Also competing individually will be freshman Abby Clark of Holderness, N.H. in two events -- the vault and the floor exercise.
Senior Kristina Lantos (Norton, Mass.) will participate in the vault and the balance beam. Sophomore Keelin O'Connell (Pembroke, Mass.) will participate in the balance beam and uneven parallel bars, and freshman Nicole Caradonna (Lynnfield, Mass.) will participate in the uneven parallel bars.
Last year, the NCGA's were held at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Two years ago, Springfield College hosted this event.



Cheryl Raymond, who will be entering her 34th year as the women's gymnastics coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College in 2013-2014, is one of the top college coaches in the region. Read more.
