



Complete ResultsCambridge, Mass. - February 21, 2009 - The Springfield College men's indoor track and field team finished ninth out of 24 schools at the Division III New England Championships on Saturday. The Pride finished with 32 points on the day.
Williams won the event with 145 points while Tufts took second with 104.
Steve Headley ran his fastest time of the year as he crushed the competition in the 55 meter dash with a 6.32, winning by .23, and earning All-New England honors. The top eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors, thus making the Pride's Matt Amendola an honoree after he finished fifth with a 6.61.
Nickel Hay crossed the finish line fifth in the 200 meter dash in 51.40, while Mike Griffin also took fifth in the 1,000 meters in 2:32.79. In the 3,000 meters, Brian Fuller took sixth in 8:49.42. All were honored as All-New England.
The final All-New England honoree was Hendrick Jean, who took third in the shot put with a toss of 46-06.75.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
