Women's Track and Field Takes 13th at New England Division III's

Laurie Jenkins Complete Results

Lewiston, Maine - February 16, 2013 - The Springfield College women's track and field team placed 13th at the New England Division III Championships this weekend hosted at Bates College.

Tufts won the competition with 116 points, closely followed by MIT's total of 109 points. Springfield proved to be the second-highest finishing institution from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), totaling 25 points.

Laurie Jenkins had the top finish on the day for the Pride and was the runner up in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 25.73.

Springfield's 4x200 relay of Crystal Davis, Darian Dailey, Liz Saia, and Jenkins raced a fifth-place time of 1:46.27. The Pride's had another relay score as well, with the 4x400 unit of Miller, Gabby Gaudreault, Jenkins, and Davis taking third in 3:59.93.

Amanda Martin also had a strong showing in the jumping events for the Pride on the day. She placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 17-01.50 and was fifth in the triple jump after reaching a distance of 35-08.75.
