



Chicago, Ill. -- April 3, 2011 -- Three men's gymnasts from Springfield College earned All-ECAC honors a total of five times over the weekend while competing at the EIGL-ECAC Championships. Ty Evans received All-ECAC honors twice, Jimmy Pezzino did so twice, and Ryan Ponce did so once.Junior Ty Evans (San Jose, Calif.) had finished fourth in the all-around on Saturday night. The top six individuals in each apparatus on Sunday also finished All-ECAC.
For Springfield, the following each earned All-ECAC honors on Sunday. They included Evans, who was fourth on the parallel bars (14.000), sophomore Jimmy Pezzino (Buffalo, N.Y.) who was second on the vault (15.550) and fourth on the floor exercise (14.550), and freshman Ryan Ponce (Tolland, Conn.), who was fifth on the still rings (14.150).
Others who competed for SC on Sunday, but were not within the top six, included senior Josh Fox (Ellicott City, Md.), who was seventh on the floor exercise (13.880), Evans, who was eighth on the horizontal bar (13.00), and ninth on the vault (14.000), and senior Roger Moulton (Wenham, Mass.), who was 10th on the vault (13.700).
In addition, SC's Joe Carlson, a sophomore from Naugatuck, Conn., was named the ECAC Co-Most Improved Gymnast of the Year at an awards ceremony at the EIGL-ECAC Championships.
Entering his 32nd season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2013 as he led five gymnasts to the NCAA Championships. Read more.
