



Swimming ResultsIthaca, N.Y. - November 30, 2012 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team finished the opening day of the Ithaca Invitational in third place as it totaled 229 points.
Cornell University leads the 11-team, three-day competition with 489 points. Host Ithaca sits in second with 280, followed by Springfield's mark of 229. Hartwick (203) and Nazareth (136) round out of the top five scores thus far.
In the one-meter diving event, Jack Lewis scored a 429.75 to finish fourth. Teammate Kenny Pancoast was right behind him in fifth with a total of 429.30.
John Vatkevich was Springfield's fastest swimmer in the 500 free, as he recorded a time of 4:50.60, good enough for 11th place. In the 200 IM, Patrick Geraghty touched in 2:03.93.
Jason Scotto touched in 21.87 in the 50 free to take 13th, while Nolan Manley registered a time of 22.09 en route to a 16th-place finish.
Springfield's 200 medley relay team of Travis Morse, Michael Normoyle, Benjamin Ernst, and Scotto combined to swim a 1:37.26 to finish sixth.

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014.
