



Springfield, Mass. -- May 6, 2011 -- Kelly Blake of the Springfield College softball team has been named a Capital One Second Team Academic All-District player for the 2011 season. Blake finished her academic year with a 3.72 GPA in occupational therapy/rehabilitation & disability. She also hit .371 for a team that has a 26-15 overall record.Blake was Springfield College's starting shortstop. The sophomore from Watertown, Conn. also batted third for the Pride.
Blake also led the team in at-bats (140), games played (41), starts (41), hits (52, tied for 1st), doubles (12, tied for 1st), and total bases (76). Her 29 runs were second most on the team, her four home runs tied for third.
This past week, Kelly was named a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference player.

Julie Perrelli enters her fourth season at the helm of the Springfield College softball program and as an assistant professor of physical education. In her first three seasons in the dugout for the Pride, Perelli has guided Springfield to two NEWMAC Championship title games. Read more.
