Springfield, Mass. - November 21, 2009 - Led by a pair of national qualifying scores by Michelle Reggio and Paige Rhodes, the Springfield College women's swimming and diving team swept visiting Keene State and Wheaton on Saturday afternoon in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.
Springfield topped Wheaton, 201-98, and edged Keene State 154-145.
Both Reggio and Rhodes tallied national qualifying scores on the three-meter board as Reggio took first with a 262.55, while Rhodes finished second with a 256.30. Teammate Courtney Keefe completed the sweep as she took third with a 220.05.
SC also swept the one-meter diving competition with Reggio taking first (225.50), Keefe finishing second (221.05), and Rhodes placing third (218.50).
Aimee Doe was tremendous for Springfield as she won the 200 free in 1:59.84 and picked up a crucial win the 500 free in 5:20.51. Springfield took control of the meet in the 500 free as it swept the top three spots, with Meghan Sisson taking second (5:21.75) and Laura Hartford placing third in 5:27.75.
Megan Cooney placed second in both the 100 backstroke (1:03.17) and the 200 backstroke (2:17.17). Kaitlin Reilly also had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 free (25.19) and the 100 free (55.18).
The Pride will compete on Sunday afternoon as it heads north to take on Middlebury College at 1:00 pm.
