Ithaca, N.Y. - December 8, 2013 - The Springfield College women's swimming & diving team finished second out of 12 teams at the Ithaca Invitational this weekend. The three-day meet concluded on Sunday.
The Pride finished with 977 points for second place. Cornell University won the invitational with 1983 points.
Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.) led Springfield with a second place finish in the 100 free. The senior swam the event in NCAA "B" cut time of 50.60.
The 400 free relay team of Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.), Kelsey Poole (Westfield, Mass.) and Pennington finished in 3:32.99, good for third place.
Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) took fourth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.14. Also swimming well in the event was Nicolle Stracqualursi (Dedham, Mass.) who placed ninth in 2:32.
Ashleigh Monroe (Southbury, Conn.) earned a sixth place finish in the 1650 free and sophomore finished in 18:02.27.
