Conner Flynn Box Score

Williamstown, Mass. - December 11, 2009 - The No. 20 Williams men's basketball team scored 52 points while shooting 73% in the second half en route to an 85-61 victory over visiting Springfield College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Springfield drops to 2-7 on the season as it dropped its third-straight contest, while Williams improve to 8-0 on the year. The game marked the third time this season that Springfield has played a team ranked in the top 20 nationally.

Pat Crean and Matt Cavalieri paced Springfield on the offensive side of the ball once again as the duo combined for 37 of Springfield's 61 points. Crean netted a team-best 19 points, while Cavalieri pumped in 18 points to go along with a team-high six rebounds. Ryan Blackmon added nine points and Conner Flynn totaled eight points in the loss.

Springfield was in control throughout much of the first half as it found itself up five, 23-18, after Crean made one of two free throws with just over six minutes remaining. However, Williams responded with a 15-4 run to close out the stanza as it ultimatley took control of the game, heading into the locker room with a six-point advantage.

Williams was unstoppable in the second half as it connected on 19 of 26 shots (73.1%), tallying 52 points in the final 20 minutes. A Crean jumper just over three minutes into the second half brought Springfield within three, but that was as close as the visitors would get in the contest. Williams would lead by as many as 30 in the contest as it cruised to its eighth-straight victory to start the season. The Ephs' bench was especially productive as it outscored Springfield's bench, 32-3, for the game.

Blake Schultze was one of three Ephs in double figures as he netted a game-high 21 points, while Alex Rubin totaled 12 and James Wang added 11 points.

The Pride will play its game before heading home for winter break as it travels to take on Connecticut College on Tuesday evening.
