



CAMBRIDGE, Mass., February 26, 2006 - Springfield College senior Andrew Malaby (West Warwick, R.I.) finished second in the still rings (8.55) and in a tie for second on the vault (8.75) while also placing fifth overall on the floor exercise (8.15) as the Pride, ranked 16th in the national according to GymInfo, finished second of four teams at this afternoon's quadrangular meet hosted by MIT.
SC compiled a team point total of 183.700 to capture second, as 14th-ranked Navy took first as a team with a score of 201.500. The host Engineers finished third with 181.950, and the Catamounts from the University of Vermont came in fourth with 135.100 total team points. The Pride improves to 4-6 overall on the 2006 season with the 2-1 weekend.
Other second-place performances came from sophomore John Ferreira (Naugatuck, Conn.) on the floor exercise with a score of 8.6, and senior Donny Eckhart (Palmerton, Pa.) in the parallel bars event, putting up an 8.35 score. SC's top all-around athlete was senior Aric Hines (Greensboro, N.C.) finishing fifth overall with an all-around mark of 42.75.
The Pride will next be at Army in West Point, N.Y., on Sunday afternoon, March 5, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
